Natural Sciences Building
Torrey Pines side of building

To encourage and enhance interdisciplinary interaction between scientists, the Natural Sciences Building (NSB-1), a unique state-of-the-art facility houses scientists from biology, chemistry/biochemistry, and physics in shared facilities on each of the six floors.

The Natural Sciences Building serves as the center for biochemistry, molecular biology and biophysics study at UCSD, bringing together students and faculty from all three departments to promote scientific collaboration, and the continued integration of instructional and research activities through hands-on learning and training in faculty laboratories.

The Natural Sciences Buiding which won the San Diego American Institute of Architects' Award in 2004, houses space for instruction and research, the Pfizer Undergraduate Teaching Laboratory, as well as specialized facilities, such as the nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) facility, nanotechnology and materials science facilities, and a Theory and Computation Center.
