Faculty & Staff Art featured at Physical
Sciences & Biological Sciences Open House
UCSD Division of Physical Sciences
by Laura Moore
November 17, 2003
On
Friday, November 14, the Divisions of Physical Sciences and Biological
Sciences hosted an Open House from 11am to 1pm in the atrium of the new
Natural Sciences Building.
Faculty and Staff contributed a show of their own art
including painting, drawing,
watercolor, photography,
quilting, crafts, science
art, woodworking and music.
Both visitors and participants were excited and surprised by the variety
and quality of the work that was displayed, prompting many to express
an interest in making the art show an annual event.
The event drew visitors from the campus community, giving
them a chance to locate and tour the new building, as well as students,
staff and faculty eager to share their creative interests.
The Natural Sciences Building
was completed in mid-2003 and is now the home of the Divisional Deans
for Physical Sciences and Biological Sciences as well as state-of-the-art
laboratories, classrooms, and an NMR facility.
Many thanks to everyone who participated,
and especially to the people who hatched the idea and worked hard make
it happen: Barbara Seipel, Julia Guevara, Jane Weber, Carol Spencer, Robert
Musial, Sherry Seethaler, Kim McDonald, Laura Moore, Pam Daener, Barbra
Blake, and Pat Walsh.
