UCSD seeks to maintain a work environment in which physical and environmental conditions are such that work-related accidents or illnesses are minimized. To help maintain a safe environment as well as to evaluate and manage those health and safety problems that arise, the University maintains an Office of Environmental Health and Safety which works with the Department of Employee Health of the University Health Services.
An employee with a specific concern about a possible health or safety problem should discuss this concern with an immediate supervisor or his or her department business officer. Problems not satisfactorily resolved in this manner should then be referred to the Department of Employee Health or to the Office of Environmental Health and Safety.
