Virginia (Ginny) Velasquez Honored by UCSD Fiesta de las Estrellas
Ginny Velasquez
I n its tenth year, UCSD's Fiesta de las Estrellas honors alumni excellence. Virginia (Ginny) Velasquez, '89, alumnus will be recognized for her impressive achievements in business and in the community.
Ginny is the CEO and Founder of TeamPersona. She established TeamPersona in May 1995 with the vision to grow into the most well respected Women and Minority Business Enterprise (WMBE) provider of temporary staffing solutions nationwide, recognized for superior customer service.
Prior to starting TeamPersona, Ginny worked for Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) on large telecommunications, healthcare and government projects. Ginny also worked as an independent contract project manager through a staffing agency where she was responsible for managing software development projects and hiring other consultants. Through her broad experience she found there was no clear leader in the staffing industry known for superior customer service and that there were many agencies with poor business ethics and practices. She decided to lead the industry by setting new standards of service and reliability.
Ginny has a degree in Math and Computer Science from the University of California at San Diego (UCSD) and a Certification in Management Development for Entrepreneurs from the Entrepreneur Program at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). She has served on the boards of Women in Technology International and the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce's School-to-Career Technology Track. She currently serves as the chair of the diversity committee for the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) in San Francisco.
