Facilities

The Natural Sciences Building (NSB) houses several meeting spaces listed below. To view availability and requirements of the auditorium, the atrium and the terrace, please click on that corresponding drawer below. Reservations are made by email to the contact listed. The remaining spaces in NSB are managed as listed. The nearest parking is the Theatre District Parking Structure

Auditorium usage will only be permitted for individuals/groups with a direct affiliation with the Schools of Physical Sciences or Biological Sciences (including the deans’ offices.)

Auditorium hours are 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Weekend and after-hours use is considered by request, as an exception only.

Events involving alcohol must adhere fully to UC San Diego Alcohol Policy (with required approval forms signed/submitted in advance per the policy).

Natural Sciences BuildingAuditorium Guidelines

  • An index number is required at the time the reservation is made, along with contact information for one responsible individual. The index number will only be charged if there are violations to the meeting space guidelines. The individual is responsible for ensuring all guidelines are followed and will be contacted directly when there are violations, issues or complaints.
  • Food and beverages are not allowed in the auditorium.
  • The default room configuration is classroom style. Please return the room to this configuration. Failure to do so will result in a facilities’ charge of approximately $50. Charges will also result from equipment damage/loss or room damages.
  • Tables and linens must be requested through your department. Once the event is finished, break down tables and move them to the side for pick-up.
  • Remove leftover catering, beverages and trash. Please dispose of any trash in the dumpster outside NSB (south of building). If trash is not removed, a housekeeping fee may apply.
  • The auditorium is equipped with a high speed wireless/ethernet connection, projection equipment and is Zoom capable.
  • Technical support of AV equipment must be provided by user’s home department. When reserving space, allow for advance prep time. For general questions regarding the room, contact oec@ucsd.edu. For hardware-related issues, please contact ITS at servicedesk@ucsd.edu.
  • The auditorium is not intended to accommodate ongoing formal, instructional coursework.
  • Grilling on the terrace is NOT allowed due to fire hazards.
  • Weekend/after-hours users may NOT prop open building doors. You will be granted an access code upon approval of room-use request.
  • Violations of the guidelines above may result in loss of future use privileges and/or charges.
